Introduction To Photography
FID Excursion Exercise 

  
Assignment description:
With the knowledge gained from the teaching and learning activities in exposure (and composition; Jan batch) thus far, capture images that are rich in tonality and composition ally strong. The images must be in black and white only.
(Note: if your camera has a black and white option please use the setting).
From all the images captured, select only one image, which in your estimation best represents or encapsulates your experience in Tioman (or a place of interest of your choosing).
Answer the following and try not to exceed more than 300 words (1 page inclusive of picture, see attached sample; Appendix 1):
1. Describe who you are and the circumstances of the trip.
2. Describe, analyse and evaluate the photograph:
2a). Why did you choose this photograph to represent the excursion?
2b). What was the aperture, shutter speed & ISO setting and why did you use it?
2c). Explain the situation that led to the moment the photograph was taken.
2d). Conclude by reflecting on the impact or reaction you feel when viewing the photograph.

Advise:
Decide your ISO first, then your aperture, keeping in mind your desired depth of field and then your shutter speed – bracket the exposure using your shutter speed to determine the best Objective:
To be technically capable of manipulating the camera and to be able to critically analyse and evaluate the output.

Smile , 24th April, 2015

F 1.8 , ISO 100 ,1/640 exposure time

            I'm Felicia Chong who are currently taking Foundation in Design course. On 23rd,April'15 , our Creative Thinking Skill （CTS) lecturer, Mr.Charles, had organized a school trip for our batch, August batch which is our senior and March batch which is our junior . Miss Teressa which is our English lecturer too , were following us to the trip to Tioman Island.

              I choose this photograph to represent the excursion because the excursion brings us closer to each other. As stated in the caption of the photograph, the excursion is such a happy and unforgettable memory which cannot be describe with mere words and only a single true smile could express the feeling of happiness we shared during the excursion.

            The situation that led me to the moment when the photo was taken is when we were having fun at the beach. During that moment, I felt relaxed as if there was nothing which brought problems and stress to my life. For a seconds, I even forgot that the main purpose of having this excursion is because of assignments. When everyone was having fun, there was one smile which caught my eyes. Something which was true and immediately I took the smile with my camera.

              As a conclusion, I would like to reflect the impact or reaction I feel when viewing the photograph. Through this photograph, I could also feel warmth in it. A smile which can melt everything with stress and troubles were all distinguished. I realized nothing worth more than happiness in this world. Smile and happiness is something that money cannot afford with. A true smile cannot be faked and this is how precious it is. I would like to share the feeling of happiness with everyone beside me with this photograph, the smile.
