Introduction to Photography
Studio photography (Basic lighting exercise)

Lecture :
Since today Mr. Vinod was going to teach us about lighting in studio, we spent our time in the studio and used the studio's facilities for the very first time. Before this , he did asked us to do some research on studio works during the 1950's to the 1970's and find one photo that we are able to reenact. Then, based on the photo that we have chosen , we need to prepare materials that we need for this shot.

Instruction:
Exercise 6: Basic Lighting ( Ungraded )
The topic covers the fifferent type of lighting fixtures and the different types of lighting formulas. Students will learn how to use the studio to practise different approaches to lighting. Students will be give a task to choose period pictures between the years of 1940 - 1960 approximately and replicate the lighting conditions and the styling.

Lighting exercise :

Reflection :

Experience
It's my first time taking portrait in a photography studio and I was pretty excited to see how will be the result. Imitate a picture of others is not easy. I sat there for almost half an hour to achieve that but it still doesn't look perfect or exactly the same as the imitating one. Mr. Vinod even climbed up and down to adjust the lighting. My classmate also did helped alot while adjusting the lighting.  It's hard but I'm kind of satisfied with what I've taken.

Observation
I noticed that both of these pictures have different type of lighting.  For the photo of me, it needs light from the back whereas for XueYi's photo , it needs light from the side. Both give different feeling. For XueYi's photo, we can see her face clearly and there's no obvious outline . For my photos, my face can't really be seen and we can see the very sharp outline. It's challenging tho.

Findings:
Anything that is new to you, it's challenging. Never try, never know. I realized that being a studio photographer is not easy even though the photo looks boring sometimes but now I know that it need lots of hard work behind.
